Welcome to my first update of this website in 5 months, and my what a busy few months this has been for everybody!
In this time we have witnessed the collapse of many banks around the world, including the Icelandic banks which we had personal savings. We are extremely lucky that the UK Government are due to refund our money soon. We hope.
The Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare spectacularly burnt down in July 2008 and a new design has been submitted already. We live not far from the seafront at Weston and this was a massive shock at the time. The whole bay still looks as though something is missing, but now we all have to look forward to the future with the new design.
We have a baby boy called Dylan. He is now almost 6 months old at the time of writing and he is the main reason this website has not been updated. He is certainly keeping us busy.
As for the chickens we have to decide whether to get some more in the future or not. We used to have some lovely friendly ex-battery hens that had been rescued from Battery Farms, and to lose these to a town fox again seems too horrible to contemplate.
On the other hand our garden is not the same without them and all seems far too quiet. Besides, the neighbours need to be able to complain about something don't they? Who am I to spoil their fun?
If anyone has any suggestions, or would like to help us build a totally fox proof run, please contact us directly, thank you. read more »

OurChickens.com has been offline for the last couple of days due to the fact we have been Hacked! This resulted in my Home Page looking like the picture on the left.
I don't understand what people can possibly get out of doing this?
The only result is that I have had to waste quite a lot of time in order to restore everything to the way it was.
There really are some strange people out there. Oh well, everything has now been restored and my website is operational again.
Gits!
I have been too busy to submit any updates recently as I have just become a proud father for the first time.
Baby Dylan Collins was born on May 3rd in the city of Bristol, weighing in at 7lb 14oz.
This photo shows me holding baby Dylan when he was just a few hours old. Its all been an amazing experience so far, but with so little sleep its totally exhausting!!
I guess it gets slightly easier! Heres to the first 18 years at least !
All of our Chickens are ex-battery hens. We therefore encourage people to support the new Chicken Out! campaign which seeks to educate people why they should buy free range. There is a lot of information about this at http://www.chickenout.tv. Please sign the petition below read more »
You may notice (on the Nightvision Camera) that one of the birds appears to be struggling to breathe at night.
This is apparently quite common in ex-battery hens and is something we are aware of and treating. She may just have to 'live with it' though, and is perfectly happy during the day. read more »
Some friends and I will be on the TV tonight in a comedy program called Angelo's (Channel Five, 11 PM Friday 23rd Nov) - photos here.
The scene is set in a queue outside an X-Factor style show, in which I was positioned next to the main actors. read more »
